Day Trip to Vlora. Don't know what to do?

I guess that if you are reading this article, it means that probably you are in Vlora for a short time and don’t know what to do. Or you are thinking to visit this beautiful city of Albania and don't know where to start. Well, we have figured it out for you.

Founded in the 6th century B.C.E., Vlora is one of the oldest towns in Albania. Vlora is situated in southwestern of Albania, surrounded by mountains and beautiful beaches it makes the perfect destination for tourist and local people to visit. Here is a list of the places you must visit if you are in Vlora.  

1. Visit the “Vlora Old Town” 

If you are coming from Tirana or another city of Albania you are probably going to stop near the Vlora Old Town. This part of the city is full of historical values, with buildings dated from the XIX Century and XX Century. This area was left in oblivion for a long-time but during these past years it has turned into the most wanted destination for tourist and local people. “Vlora Old Town” is definitely a must! You can buy souvenirs, take some cool shots of the buildings and have a coffee at the local bars or enjoy a quick breakfast with local food. 
 
2. Visit “Kuzum Baba” 

If you want to see how the whole city looks from the top than you should stop by Kuzum Baba, named after a Bektashi spiritual leader. As the highest point of Vlora City, the hill of Kuzum Baba offers you an amazing panorama that you will definitely love. From there you can see the main city area, the beach that surrounds the city, Lagune of Narta and so much more. If you enjoy walking on the nature, we suggest climbing the hill by foot. 
 

3. Visit Zvernec Monastery 

Are you ready to be amazed by another area of Vlora called Zvernec? If so than get ready for this small island that is located about 12 km from the center of Vlora. Covered from Mediterranean trees it makes this island one of the main tourist attractions. By crossing the pedestrian walkway, you can go from the coast inside the forest. There you will find the Byzantine Church of St. Mary, built in the 14th century. This area is known for its fresh fish so make sure to stop by a restaurant on the way to Zvernec for lunch. 

 
4. Visit Lungomare 
 
Now it is time to visit the other part of the city. Let's start from a short visit to the Lungomare area from the “Skela” area to the “Uji I Ftohte” (The Cold Water) area. This is one of the most visited areas in Vlora from tourist and locals, for doing sports, walking, meditating etc. This urban area is known for the best bars and restaurants of Vlora. So, if you are hungry this is the place to find a fancy restaurant. This new urban work offers spectacular views of the blue space. If you are here during the afternoon, you will be amassed by the view that the reflection of lights to the Ionian Sea create. During Summer the city usually organizes party with folk music. If you don’t enjoy folkloric music, you can definitely find a lounge bar to relax.
