Dhërmi, the Santorini of Albania?
If you are thinking to spend your summer in Albania than you can’t leave without visiting the village of Dhërmi.
Dhermi known as Drimadhes lies 47 km away the city of Vlora. Positioned in south of Albania this village has some of the most gorgeous beaches in the Albanian Riviera.
Here are some things you need to know about Dhermi:
Dhermi is a village of Vlore, but part of the municipality of Himarë. It is located between Vlora and Saranda. This village is built on a mountain slope about 200 meters high and includes three neighborhoods: Gjilek, Kondraq and Dhermi.
For the most part Dhermi has preserved the old architecture and on the last decade numerous projects have turned Dhermi into one of the most important tourist spots in the country. A long time ago, the houses of Dhermi were demolished, but the stone masters from all over Albania have returned Dhermi to its previous identity. What you will notice are the uniform facades of the houses with white color, characteristic roofs and stone alleys.
Dhërmiu offers a fantastic view of the mountain and a stunning view of the Ionian Sea. Many tourists compare this village to other famous destinations like Santorini in Greece or Croatia. Compared to other regions of the world the prices are not so high. This area is improving day by day. The clean water, the excellent service, the amazing architecture and the different number of activities in Dhërmi, make it the perfect destination for an unforgettable summer.
